Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that exists as a matrix between human cells. The material is synthesized in such a manner that makes it less likely to be degraded and more likely to persist. Unlike other filler products that are derived from animal sources, hyaluronic acid fillers are not animal derived. Restylane has been used extensively in Europe and Canada since 1996 and received FDA approval for use in the U.S. in 2003.
Well defined facial features help give balance to the face enhancing both the profile and frontal appearance. Some individuals may benefit from higher or fuller cheekbones or a more prominent chin. The analysis begins with evaluating the entire facial contour including the bony framework as well as the overlying skin, muscle and fat compartments. Equally important is the relationship of the chin and cheeks to the nose, the size and shape of the lips and position of the eyes.
Glycolic acid is a non toxic Alpha Hydroxy Acid derived from sugar cane. Application to the skin wick “lift away” the aging surface skin cells and allow younger, less sun damaged cells to come to the surface and “freshen” the skin. Glycolic acid is present in many skin care products at concentration levels of 3-5. The peels applied under the direction of a physician range from 20-70, with the appropriate concentration chosen based on your particular skin type and degree of skin
The procedure can reduce or narrow the nose, enhance aesthetics, straighten a crooked nose, or correct deformities from prior surgery.
Facial scars can be treated with various techniques to reduce visibility, with results improving over several months.
Dr. Der Sarkissian provides vital skin checks, lesion removal, and scar care for rising facial skin cancer rates.
